PutPlace Privacy Policy

Personal information is PERSONAL! 

PutPlace Limited (“PutPlace”, “we”, “us”) takes our subscribers’ (“users”, “you”, “your”) privacy very seriously.  We recommend that you read our detailed Privacy Policy (“Policy”) below, so you understand the implications of sharing information with us.

This Policy describes what personal information we collect from Users of PutPlace from our site www.putplace.com (the "Site"), how use that information and how we won’t use it.

By using our Site, you consent to the terms of this Policy.

The Bottom Line

1. We promise not to spam you or share your data with anybody else, save under the reasonable exceptions outlined below.

2. We do not, and will not, resell, distribute or, save as set out in this Policy, share any identifiable customer date with other entities.

3. With the exception of problem reporting and configuration of publishers for publishing content, our software does not include any code for collecting any private or personal data from the computers it is installed on or has access to.

Who Can Use Our Site

This site is not designed or intended to collect or retain the personal information of persons under the age of 18.  You must be 18 years or older to create an account on PutPlace.  We will not knowingly collect or retain information from persons under the age of 18.

What Is Personal Information

For the purposes of our Policy, personal information is considered to be that information that concerns, helps us identify, and differentiate between, users.  This may include information such as name, email address, billing address, credit card details, account number, telephone number, usage history, etc.

Personal information does not include aggregate information concerning a group or category of users or products from which is not possible to identify a particular individual.

Our Privacy Policy

We want all PutPlace subscribers and users to be totally comfortable about what personal information we collect, why and for what purpose.

PutPlace operates this privacy policy in relation to all of its services and products.  Under this policy, PutPlace adheres to the Irish Data Protection Act and all of its obligations.

PutPlace manages and handles all personal subscriber data on Amazon servers.  Amazon operates the US Department of Commerce Safe Harbor scheme, which is a binding commitment by Amazon to store your personal information in compliance with the data protection standards implemented in the European Union.  This data is used only in the context of delivering our service.  We will not use your data in any other context unless you give your express approval in advance.

We undertake to ensure that every member of staff at PutPlace is aware of all aspects of this policy and behave as such.

Information We Collect And Hold

When you register for an account – even a free one – we need certain information from you.  This includes your name and email address.  We also ask for some market research data like your country of origin, where you currently share your digital content, how you heard about us and whether you would like to receive a newsletter.

If you subscribe for a fee-based service, we will also collect your credit card details and billing address.  This information is personal, falls under the provisions of this Policy and will be carefully secured.

By registering, you are also added to our mailing list so we can send you product alerts and reminders.  You may unsubscribe from this list at any time by emailing unsubscribe@putplace.com.

At registration, we also request some additional information that helps us continuously improve our service – this is optional information, and includes where you heard of us, newsletter sign up etc.  You are not obliged to give us this information in order to use the service.  We appreciate any information you can give us that will help us in our service development; and promise to treat all information with respect.

In the course of using the PutPlace service, you will upload digital content and data to our servers.  We have a duty of care to handle this information carefully and competently as per the terms of the user agreement you are also party to as a PutPlace subscriber. 

In using the PutPlace service, you have a duty of care to safeguard your password and log in details.  If you are accessing your data online, you need to make sure you successfully log out of the service, to ensure that no other third party can access your content.  At PutPlace, we can help you set a new password, but we never have access to your current password. 

In the course of sharing your content with your friends, you may share their contact details with PutPlace.  In this event, we will use this information solely to enable content sharing on that occasion. 

PutPlace may also run competitions, survey or other activity that involves the collection of personal information.  In these cases, the information gathered will fall under the provisions of this Policy.

PutPlace uses Amazon's S3 service to store your data unless you specify an alternative service.  In Amazon, all links are private, so there no easy way of connecting data back to any PutPlace account.  PutPlace uploads data using Secure Socket Layer encryption- making your data safe while it is in transit. In our PutPlace database, we also de-couple the filename from the user ID making it impossible for unauthorised data access.

The PutPlace website uses cookies and web server logs to collect operational information about our website.  This information may include your IP address, cookie, date/time/duration of your visit and the sites you visited before and after being on our site.  This helps us better understand the performance of our site and where can make improvements. You can choose to enable or disable cookies in your web browser. Note however that disabling cookies may prevent you from using the full range of services available on the Site.

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information held by us on payment of a small fee.

We strive to ensure that all information is accurate and up-to-date. However should you discover any inaccuracies in your account details please contact us at support@putplace.com.

How We Use The Information

The main reason we collect your information is so that we can provide a great service to you – we need some personal information in order to do this.  We use this information to deliver the service you have subscribed or registered for, to process transactions, provide support, respond to user requests, maintain a record of our dealings with you, develop new products and services and inform you about developments with our service and also for market research purposes – e.g. how many users we have any one region, how many users we got from a particular source, how many users use which content sharing sites, etc.

We also use this information to manage the functioning of our servers, deliver customer service and develop new products and services for our customers and prospective customers.

By subscribing to PutPlace, you automatically subscribe to receive relevant service information about PutPlace.  We may also contact you to update you on new PutPlace developments or offers that might be of benefit to you.  If you do not wish to receive communication from you, please email unsubscribe@putplace.com.

We use your cookie information to streamline your user experience and to add to our market research concerning the website.  We like to gather overall statistics on the site that we use in an aggregated way to help us improve the sire’s performance.

Sharing The Information

PutPlace will never sell, give or rent any of your personal information to a third party.  Other than set out in this Policy, we will not disclose your information to anyone unless we are compelled to do so by a court of law or other competent authority with jurisdiction over us. 

There are certain limited circumstances under which we may share information:
- with affiliates and subsidiaries
- with third parties, provided you consent
- our own service providers who may need your details in order to perform internal functions that help us run our business such as payment services or market analysis.  In this case, these third parties will be subject to this privacy policy.
- in the event of a sale or merger or some other trade transaction involving PutPlace, we may need to share your data, or operate under a different privacy policy.  In this case, you will be notified of any change in circumstances.

There may be certain legal circumstances under which we may decide to share your data, such as to comply with the law, to assert our rights, to enforce the terms of use of the PutPlace service, to address technical or security issues, etc.

PutPlace will often compile aggregated data concerning the usage of our service which may be publicly shared.  This information will relate to PutPlace’s overall performance.

Access To Your Information

PutPlace will ensure that your personal information is secured in an effort to prevent unauthorised access, alteration, loss or use while it is in our control.  We operate a confidentiality policy for those members of staff who do have access to this information.  We ensure that access to personal information is restricted to those who need such access to deliver, develop or enhance the PutPlace service.

In order to protect the personal information we request from you via our website, we transmit this data only through an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) server.  This means that all such information is encrypted and, thereby, protected. 

The personal information we store is password protected and accessed on a strict “need-to-know” basis.  Our security provisions are regularly reviewed by the CEO.

PutPlace does not take responsibility for data transferred between our site and another or for data sent to us by email.  In the case that you click from a PutPlace site to a site operated by another body, please bear in mind that our Privacy Policy no longer applies.

PutPlace is happy to give you access to all of the personal information shared by you with us.  You may amend or update this information at any time. 

PutPlace may retain your personal information for some time in the event that you cancel your PutPlace service.

By registering to use the PutPlace service, you are consenting to our collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy.  While the PutPlace Privacy policy may change over time, the current version will always be available on this page.  Your continued use of PutPlace services indicates your continued agreement to the current terms of the policy.
